Laura’s work reflects a fascination for the miniature worlds found within natural landscape, from lichen on tree bark to coastal rock formations.
She predominantly work in precious metal, with a passion for intricate detail employing traditional techniques, including fine soldering and stone setting. She also enjoys working in mixed media, sometimes using avant-garde methods of glazing ceramic, sculpting slate and shaping bog oak to create striking colour and texture combinations.
Having trained as a jeweller and applied artist at Middlesex university, she later attended a one year postgraduate position at the prestigious Bishopsland workshops in South Oxfordshire. She recently completed a year long artist residency teaching jewellery & Silversmithing at South Hill Park Arts Centre in Bracknell and continues to run classes from her workshop in Hackney Wick, London. Alongside the making of her own bespoke commissions and limited edition ranges she also produces work for the art jeweller Romilly Saumerez-Smith.
